Hines Appoints Thomas Ummels as Head of Development and Construction in the Netherlands
Hines, a global real estate investment manager, has announced the appointment of Thomas Ummels as the head of development and construction for The Netherlands. Ummels brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the chief development officer for Dutch real estate developer EDGE (formerly OVG), where he spent 20 years in various positions focused on development and construction.
Jan Hein Tiedema, who was appointed as the Hines country head for the Netherlands last year and also hails from EDGE, expressed his enthusiasm about collaborating with Ummels once again. Under Tiedema's leadership, Hines currently owns or manages over 735,000 square meters of real estate in The Netherlands, with more than 690,000 square meters dedicated to logistics.
In a recent development, Hines completed the acquisition of a 20,000 square-meter retail warehouse in Venlo in July, adjacent to its existing investment, Fresh Park Venlo, on behalf of the Hines Global Income Trust, Inc. (HGIT).
Ummels commented on his new role, stating, “Hines has been at the cutting edge of real estate investing and development for many years and is responsible for numerous iconic buildings around the world. I am honored to be taking up this role at an investment firm with development right at the core of its DNA, and I can’t wait to deploy the full potential of Hines’ capabilities in the Dutch market.”
