Ho Chi Minh City Suspends American International School Vietnam for One Year
The American International School Vietnam (AISVN), located in Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh City, has been suspended for 12 months starting from July 1 due to its failure to demonstrate compliance with operational regulations. The municipal Department of Education and Training announced this decision on Tuesday after the school did not provide the necessary documentation to prove its ability to sustain educational operations.
On May 28, the department, along with other relevant units, met with the investor and management board of AISVN, demanding a comprehensive report on the school's current situation and financial health. The required report, due by June 15, was to include evidence of the school's operational viability and documents concerning tax, insurance, and salary payments. However, the department did not receive this report by the deadline.
Due to financial weaknesses and a diminished workforce, AISVN was deemed incapable of continuing its operations. Consequently, the municipal department decided to suspend the school's educational activities for a year, effective Monday.
The department has instructed AIS American International Education JSC, the owner of AISVN, and the school itself to take appropriate measures to protect the interests and benefits of students, ensuring that their studies are not disrupted. The school is also required to provide sufficient social welfare to its teachers, workers, and executives.
Since April, reports from educational facilities indicate that 134 parents have transferred their children from AISVN to other schools.
