Hungary has created a new supercomputer, which already has a name!
The Wigner Physics Research Center-based facility in Csillebérc near Budapest will be built in the next few years, thanks to funding under the European High-Performance Computing Joint Venture (EuroHPC).
According to the ministry, EuroHPC will provide key resources and coordination for infrastructure upgrades and increased use of technology. The Hungarian bid submitted in February gained support based on the evaluation of international experts,
This grant covers more than one-third of the value of the so-called Levente project and the running cost of five years.
László Palkovics, Minister of Technology and Industry, said in a ministry statement:
New internationally marketable conditions for technological and industrial development in Hungary … “
He added that the new ability will make Hungary jump before it is in the top 50 of the world.
He added that the structure of supercomputers incorporating modular technology will enable the connection of quantum computers in the future. Read More...
