Inaugurated International Book Fair of Venezuela chapter Aragua
The International Fair will be held in the spaces of the regional parliament until next April 2
With the motto "Reading decolonizes in Maracay" this Thursday the 18th edition of the International Book Fair of Venezuela (Filven) Aragua chapter was inaugurated, which will take the spaces of the regional parliament until next April 2, where attendees will be able to enjoy different publishing offers, book presentations, talks, forums, workshops, children's activities, recitals and artistic activities.
The inauguration of Filven, which this year will pay homage to several well-known Aragua writers and poets such as Teresa Samele and Manuel García (better known as Max Bembo), who have dedicated years to literature, was attended by Governor Karina Carpio, accompanied Raúl Cazal, Vice Minister of Culture and President of the National Book Center (Cenal).
Also present was Rommel Ramírez, general director of the Cabinet of Culture of the Aragua state, who highlighted the importance of the event framed in the theme of decolonization, as a tribute to Africa and the Afro-descendant people of Venezuela, where 32 publishing houses participate, with more than 100 activities, including the presentation of 38 books.
“In this edition of Filven we will also pay tribute to national figures such as Carmen Teresa Travieso, deceased writer and journalist; Iraida Vargas, writer and Professor Mario Sanoja”, Ramírez specified regarding this edition of the Filven that began in Caracas in November 2022 as a tribute to the African continent.
During the activity, they will also carry out 2 forum film screenings and a discussion with 6 speakers of great experience, with the participation of the Luis Bigott Study Center.
