IPOA to probe shooting of four in Kajiado
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority is investigating deaths of four people in Kajiado county.
In a statement on Friday, IPOA said where fault is found, the officers will be held accountable.
“On completion of the investigations, where fault is found, the Authority shall make recommendations, including but not limited to prosecution,” they said.
The four were killed after women demonstrating against wildlife blocked roads to protest the wildlife conflict
The women called for action over human, and wildlife conflict when the GSU officers opened fire and killed four on the spot. Seven others were wounded.
The group of women had staged a demo to express their anger following the death of a teacher who was reportedly killed by an elephant.
Governor Joseph Lenku condemned the use of live bullets by security officers.
While condoling with family members of the four people killed, Lenku condemned the police action adding that they should not have used live bullets on the innocent demonstrators. Read More…
