Iran's 'Defensive Diplomacy' Neutralizes Global Isolation Efforts, Says Senior Commander
A senior Iranian military commander has asserted that the Islamic Republic's strategy of "defensive diplomacy" has successfully thwarted attempts by global powers to isolate the nation. Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, the deputy commander for coordination in the Iranian Army, made these remarks on Wednesday while outlining the achievements of Iran in the realm of defensive diplomacy.
Sayyari emphasized that Iran's engagement and communication with other countries have demonstrated the failure of what he termed "global arrogance" in its efforts to implement a policy of isolation against Iran. “The enemies are trying to isolate the Islamic Revolution and the country, but they will not succeed,” he stated confidently.
The commander attributed this resilience to the Islamic Republic's proactive steps in fostering international relations. He highlighted the significance of annual meetings with foreign military attachés and defense officials as evidence of Iran's commitment to diplomatic engagement. These interactions, he noted, are part of the Army's annual diplomatic program, which includes meetings with foreign students at the National Defense University and the Army University of Command and Staff.
Sayyari also pointed to the exchange of military delegations as a key aspect of Iran's defensive diplomacy. He stated that the country has sent and received numerous military delegations from around the world, showcasing Iran's active role in international military cooperation. “Thanks to the blessings of the country’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, we are currently in contact with many countries around the world, and our defensive diplomacy is active,” he remarked.
The commander further elaborated on Iran's military collaborations, mentioning joint exercises conducted with various nations across land, air, and sea domains. He noted that these activities not only highlight the capabilities of the Iranian Armed Forces but also reinforce the effectiveness of Iran's diplomatic efforts.
Sayyari underscored the importance of promoting diplomacy as a component of national power, asserting that a robust defensive diplomacy reflects Iran's ability to interact and cooperate with other countries. He indicated that the scope of Iran's defensive diplomacy encompasses all branches of its military, including land, air, and naval forces, with an emphasis on expanding these diplomatic efforts to higher levels.
The senior commander’s statements reflect Iran's determination to counteract perceived threats of isolation through active engagement and collaboration on the global stage, positioning defensive diplomacy as a vital element of the country's strategic power.
