Ireland Reads - squeeze in a read this February
Ireland Reads is an annual campaign to get the whole country reading during February, in the lead up to Ireland Reads Day on February 25th.
The campaign aims to spread the joy of reading, and to open reading up to everyone, of every age and background. It doesn't matter what you read, or for how long, so long as you read and discover the benefits it has for wellbeing and enjoyment.
Led by Irish public libraries in collaboration with booksellers, authors, publishers and other supporting agencies across the country, you can go to the Ireland Reads website to sign up and pledge to read.
You'll get reading reminders and be able to see how much reading time has been pledged by the Irish public so far.
Not sure what to read? No problem! The Ireland Reads website offers book recommendations suited to a person’s interests and the time they have available, with more than 1,500 recommendations from librarians all around the country. Simply enter your favourite type of book and how long you would like to read each day and the website will offer a suitable book suggestion and work out how long it will take to complete... so you can set yourself a reading challenge if you want!
Libraries and partners all over the country will be running Ireland Reads initiatives and events throughout February. These will include talks, interviews, storytime sessions and more! Ireland Reads Day, February 25 is also the perfect day to check out your local library or local bookshop. Read More…
