Islamabad Art Exhibition Celebrates the Bonds of Pakistan-China Friendship
The art connoisseurs were enthralled as they filled the Islamabad Art Gallery, immersing themselves in a captivating display of paintings, sculptures, installations, and other artistic creations adorned with intricate Chinese symbolism.
Named "Star Moon Road: 2023 Exhibition of Contemporary Art Exchange Between Pakistan and China," this exhibition took place on a Monday in the heart of Islamabad, the capital city. The event commemorated the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Amna Shah, one of the event's organizers, revealed that more than 100 innovative artworks, crafted by renowned Chinese and Pakistani artists, are currently showcased. Among them, approximately 70 art pieces have been contributed by Chinese artists, sparking significant interest among the Pakistani audience.
Shah further emphasized that the gallery would remain open to the public throughout the month, providing visitors with a comprehensive insight into Chinese art and culture.
In appreciation of the creative endeavors of Chinese and Pakistani artists, Ahsan Iqbal, the Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives in Pakistan, underscored the profound impact of art and culture in fostering engagement between the two nations.
"By prioritizing exchanges in art and culture, we can strengthen the exemplary friendship shared between China and Pakistan, bringing the people of these friendly nations even closer," stated the minister. He firmly believed that the exchange of ideas through artistic expression and cultural interaction has the power to invigorate the creative economy while playing a pivotal role in achieving peace, progress, and harmony in the region.
Jamal Shah, former Director General of the Pakistan National Council of the Arts, highlighted the rich cultural heritage that the two countries have shared for centuries.
"We have numerous common elements in our arts and crafts, music, and theater with China. Furthermore, in this era of rapid technological advancement, there is much we can learn from China's accomplishments and experiences in the fields of cinema and artificial intelligence," expressed Shah.
