Jana Koščak wins Gold Medal in World Junior Heptathlon Championship
Jana Koščak, a young Croatian athlete, has claimed the gold medal in the women's heptathlon at the World Junior Championships held in Peru. Koščak secured the title of world junior champion with a total of 5,807 points after seven events, as announced by the Croatian Athletics Federation.
On the final day of the competition, her performances included a 5.97-meter long jump (earning 840 points), a 40.06-meter javelin throw (668 points), and a time of 2:24.56 in the 800-meter run (763 points).
Koščak entered the last event with a narrow 40-point lead over Swiss athlete Lucia Acklin, ultimately extending her lead by another 12 points to finish with a 52-point advantage. This victory marks Croatia's eighth gold medal in the history of the World Junior Championships.
Lucia Acklin of Switzerland won the silver medal with 5,755 points, and Czech athlete Adela Tkačová took bronze with 5,601 points.
