Keep an eye out for poisonous mushrooms this season, Poisons Information Center says
It's mushroom season in Sweden, the time of year when people take to wooded areas to fill their baskets with as many mushrooms as they can find.
While it's hard to say exactly how many people become sick from eating poisonous mushrooms and toadstools each year, the Swedish Poisons Information Center gets approximately 1,000 to 2,000 calls each year depending on how big the season is.
Peter Hultén, a specialist pharmacist in poisonings with the information centre, says foreign-born residents should be especially careful not to mistake poisonous mushrooms for similar looking edible mushrooms from their home countries. Read More…
