Motorola's 2018 smartphone lineup - including the Moto Z3 - outed by massive leak

Motorola is planning to release quite a few new smartphones over the course of 2018.

We know that because it looks like the Lenovo-owned company just had its entire line-up outed in a comprehensive leak over at Droid Life.

The website managed to get its hands on official-looking renders of all the new phones weeks ahead of the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona next month.

Included in the line-up is the company's rumoured flagship phone, the Moto Z3, which will do battle with the likes of Samsung and Apple.

Also planned is the company's next iteration of its excellent budget range, the Motorola Moto G6.

And it looks like Motorola isn't giving up on the excellent Moto Mods accessories range that clip on to the back of its Z-range phones to give them extra features.

Obviously this extensive leak hasn't been confirmed by Motorola, so we need to approach with a bit of caution. But given the Motorola releases of the last couple of years, the information looks to be accurate.

Here's what we learned about Motorola's plans for 2018:

The Moto Z3 will have to retain a similar design to the Z2 in order to work with the Moto Mods accessories - which is why we can see the protruding camera bump and the metallic strip on the back in the image above.

However, it appears Motorola will be embracing the all-screen design adopted by the iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy S8 as the bezels around the front of the phone appear to be reduced.

According to Droid Life, both phones will benefit from a 6-inch 18:9 display - and you can expect the pixel resolution to be pretty high as well.

Motorola's G-range are consistently cited as some of the best budget phones around and it looks like Lenovo is going to continue that this year.

The Moto G6 and larger G6 Plus appear to keep the similar design of last year's G5. Upgrades will come in the form of internal specs as Droid Life says the new phones will feature a Snapdragon 450 chip for the G6 and Snapdragon 630 for the G6 Plus.

Battery life will also be increased and Motorola is reportedly developing black, silver and rose gold for the G6 and black, silver and teal for the G6 Plus.

Of course, the main factor with these phones will be the price - hopefully Lenovo will keep it low enough to offer consumers another excellent deal.

We may know more once Mobile World Congress gets underway.

The Moto X5 would be Motorola's mid-level smartphone for 2018 and immediately we can see there's an interesting design choice being made.

Like the Moto Z3, the X5 appears to be embracing an iPhone-style all-screen display complete with the controversial "notch" at the top of the screen.

According to the image obtained by Droid Life, the phone will also have dual-lens camera on the front as well as the back.

"The photo you are seeing above was sent to us by a single source and we were unable to verify it with additional sources. With that said, should it be the real deal, we’re looking at quite an interesting package," the site said.

What's unclear from these pictures is whether or not the phone will incorporate a fingerprint scanner.
