NRM Leaders in Bugisu Sub-region Appeal to Museveni Regarding Unmet Promises
District chairpersons of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Bugisu sub-region have called upon President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to fulfill the commitments he made to the region. The NRM leaders presented their plea during the inauguration of the "Museveni Tova Ku Main" campaign, which aims to endorse President Museveni's candidacy for the 2026 general elections.
The launch took place at the cricket grounds in Mbale city and was attended by NRM delegates, party youth leaders, Members of Parliament, district chairpersons, Resident District Commissioners, Resident City Commissioners, musicians, and other representatives from Mbale, Bududa, Manafwa, Sironko, and Namisindwa districts.
Speaking on behalf of the NRM delegates, John Walimbwa, the chairperson of Manafwa District NRM, highlighted the promises made by President Museveni. These commitments encompassed various initiatives such as the tarmacking of Kaguta road, which President Museveni used as an escape route in 1983, the resettlement of victims affected by landslides, the establishment of a public university in Bugisu, and the resolution of traditional leadership issues, among others. Walimbwa also mentioned the ongoing progress being made regarding the current pledges in different regions of Bugisu.
Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and coordinator of the Office of the National Chairperson (ONC), graced the event as the Chief Guest. She assured Ugandans that President Museveni will not be stepping down in 2026 and encouraged the youth to support him.
Namyalo emphasized that the fulfillment of their presidential pledges can only be realized with President Museveni's continued leadership. Furthermore, she cautioned the Bamasaba community to remain vigilant against conflicts instigated by individuals hindering the region's development.
As part of the event, President Museveni generously provided the youth with resources such as sewing machines, hair shavers, and dryers to help combat poverty. Eng Irene Muloni Nafuna, the Woman Member of Parliament for Bulambuli District, expressed her gratitude for Hajjat Namyalo's visit and thanked the president for his unwavering commitment to the region's development, particularly through initiatives targeting the youth.
