Police Conduct Control Operation During Blackouts in North Quito
The La Delicia Police District carried out a control operation in the north of Quito during the power outages decreed by the National Government on the night of September 18.
The police district deployed logistical and human resources to strategic points with chronic crime problems, including public institutions such as prison number four and shopping malls. The operation aimed to prevent security issues for citizens during the blackouts.
Colonel Luis Eduardo Mantilla Gallardo, head of the La Delicia Police District, encouraged citizens to take precautions at home and to use community chats to request help from the National Police if needed. The police district keeps community chats active to facilitate communication with citizens.
Similar control operations will be conducted in the following days, starting on Monday, September 23, 2024, during scheduled blackouts. The police will continue to work to ensure citizen safety and prevent crime during these periods.
