PSD criticizes ANMP president for agreement that "harms" Matosinhos
In a statement sent to Lusa, the president of the social-democratic municipality of Matosinhos, Bruno Pereira, accuses the also president of the Municipal Council of Matosinhos, Luísa Salgueiro, of "not defending the municipalities in the delegation of powers", considering that, "at least ", the mayor "would be obliged to defend a contract for the decentralization of competences in the area of education for all municipalities under conditions and terms similar to those in force" in that municipality in the district of Porto.
As explained in the text, "since 2015, the municipality of Matosinhos has an inter-administrative contract, in the area of Education, of delegation of relevant powers, signed with the Government of Pedro Passos Coelho, and the expenses related to "building maintenance, school visits, culture, transport of children and young people, expenses with cleaning companies, gas, water, telecommunications and energy" would be borne by the central state "and with a greater financial allocation per school, per student and school grouping than currently proposed ".
Contacted by Lusa, the president of the ANMP declined to comment on Bruno Pereira's accusation.
"At the very least, Luísa Salgueiro would be obliged to defend a contract for the decentralization of competences in the area of Education for all municipalities under conditions and terms similar to those in force in Matosinhos", the text reads, and the negotiation process between ANMP and the Government for the decentralization of competences, namely in the area of Education, is not yet concluded.
Even so, for the PSD of Matosinhos, "the president of the ANMP conceals, with her associates, what is happening in her municipality, perhaps due to remorse for the fact that the PS was against this advantageous agreement for Matosinhos, thus harming the authorities for the benefit of the Government".
That municipality leader also accuses the PS and the president of the ANMP of "a complete lack of transparency" of "continuing without realizing the true impact of a transfer of competences in the intended manner, when in their municipality they obtained better contractual conditions, with a government of the PSD /CDS and which are still in force today".
