Countless hours can be lost on Reddit as reading and commenting on one thread can quickly lead you down a rabbit hole of discussion.
But users are divided on how the site's recent redesign (its first one in over a decade) has impacted its usability.
The redesign was first made available to about 1% of Reddit users back in April and has slowly been rolling out to the website's 330 million users over the last few months.
It replaces the navigation bar with a menu that opens up to feeds and subreddits that you can follow. The idea was to make the site a bit more intuitive to use and less daunting for newcomers.
And it's been met with a mixed reaction by users discussing it on Twitter.
Redesigning a web property with millions of active users can be a tricky endeavour. Just ask Snapchat .
But the new look from Reddit genuinely seems to have split opinion.
"There are a variety of goals, but chief among them is decreasing the bounce rate of first-time visitors and increasing time on site for everyone," Reddit's CEO Steve Huffman explained in a post a few months ago.
"More generally, Reddit grows primarily through word of mouth. Many of us evangelize Reddit and tell people how awesome it is, what an impact it's made in their life, how much it makes them laugh, etc, and then when those new people decide to check out Reddit for the first time they're greeted with dystopian Craigslist. We'd like to fix that," he wrote.
Reddit does seem to have picked up that there may be older users who just want to keep things the same.
The site has retained a "classic" design version that keeps the original look of the site. So there's something for everyone.
