"Sunflower Road" March to Celebrate Ukraine's Independence Day
To commemorate Ukraine's Independence Day, the association "Tavi draugi" in cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine and Riga City Council is organizing a support march called "Sunflower Road" on Saturday, August 24th at 11:30am. The event aims to show solidarity with Ukraine and its people, who have been fighting for freedom and independence. The movement will proceed from Freedom Monument to Vērmanes Garden, where an event and concert "United for Ukraine" will take place.
During the event, participants will have the opportunity to support Ukraine by donating school supplies, as well as items for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, such as:
- Tea, sweets, nuts, and dried fruit
- Canned meat and fish
- Hygiene products
- Men's clothing
The donations will be delivered to Ukraine and to the soldiers on the front line with the help of partner organizations.
This is the third year that "Tavi draugi" is organizing the "Sunflower Road" campaign, which is dedicated to Ukraine's unrelenting fight for freedom and to every Ukrainian civilian in Latvia. The sunflower, Ukraine's national flower, has become a symbol of hope and solidarity for the Ukrainian people.
Everyone in Latvia and Ukrainians living in Latvia are invited to join the "Sunflower Road" march and show their support for Ukraine. Participants are encouraged to wear Ukrainian symbols and bring sunflowers to demonstrate their solidarity with Ukraine.
