Taiwan badminton duo beat Chinese opponents to win first gold of Paris Olympics
Team Taiwan celebrated a historic victory at the Paris Olympics with their first gold medal in the men's doubles badminton final on Sunday. The duo, Lee Yang (李洋) and Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟), secured their win in a thrilling match against the world No. 1 pair from China, Liang Weikeng (梁偉鏗) and Wang Chang (王昶).

This victory marks Lee Yang and Wang Chi-lin as the first Taiwanese badminton players to win multiple Olympic medals, having previously secured gold at the Tokyo Olympics. They join weightlifter Hsu Shu-ching (許淑淨) as the only Taiwanese athletes to achieve back-to-back Olympic golds, with Hsu winning in London 2012 and Rio 2016.
Earlier in the day, boxer Lin Yu-ting secured a semifinal berth, guaranteeing Taiwan a third medal from the ring.
