Tan Son Nhat Airport Expected to Serve 4 Million Passengers During Tet
Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City is gearing up for a busy period as it anticipates serving approximately 4 million passengers during the upcoming 2025 Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival. The airport's operations will be particularly heightened from January 14 (the 15th day of the last month of the Year of the Dragon) to February 12 (the 15th day of the first month of the Year of the Snake).
During this festive period, the airport is expected to handle 1.5 million international passengers and 2.5 million domestic travelers, with an average of 800 flights per day. On the busiest days, this number could surge to as many as 970 flights per day. The projected increase in flights and passengers represents a 6.25% rise in flights and a 5.36% increase in passenger numbers compared to previous years.
To accommodate the surge in demand, the airport has adjusted its slot parameters, allowing for a maximum of 48 flights per hour during the day and 46 flights at night from January 21 to February 9. This adjustment increases the supply capacity by 18% compared to the original plan, ensuring that airlines can meet the rising demand from travelers.
The airport has requested all non-aviation service providers, including taxi companies and other service units, to commit to maintaining high service quality during this peak period. Transport companies are also being asked to increase their fleet capacity by 25% compared to their registered number of vehicles, ensuring that passengers have access to adequate transportation options.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) is coordinating with airports and airlines to ensure smooth operations throughout the holiday season. This includes providing 24/7 services at key regional airports and optimizing infrastructure and resources to handle the increased passenger flow.
Travelers are advised to stay updated on their flight schedules and adhere to safety regulations to avoid any disruptions during their journeys. The CAAV will continue to monitor operations closely, ready to address any issues that may arise, with the goal of ensuring safe and efficient travel during the Tet holiday.
As Tan Son Nhat International Airport prepares for a significant influx of passengers during the Tet Festival, the measures being implemented aim to enhance service quality and operational efficiency. With careful planning and coordination among various stakeholders, the airport is set to provide a smooth travel experience for millions of passengers celebrating the Lunar New Year.
