THAIFEX – Anuga Asia, the largest trade show for food and beverages in the region, is expected to generate 70 billion baht in revenue this May
The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) in Thailand, in collaboration with the Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC) and Koelnmesse (KM), will host THAIFEX – Anuga Asia 2023 from May 23rd to 27th at Impact Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok, Thailand. This trade show, considered the most extensive and significant in Asia for the food and beverage industry, will bring together over 3,000 exhibitors from around the world, aiming for a total transaction value of 70 billion baht.
Ms. Natiya Suchinda, the Director of the Office of Agricultural and Industrial Trade Promotion at DITP, acknowledged the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the previous THAIFEX – Anuga Asia events held between 2019 and 2022. However, with the situation gradually returning to normal this year, the organizers are preparing for a fully organized event that surpasses the previous ones. The upcoming trade show will serve as a global platform for entrepreneurs to engage in business discussions, strike deals, explore innovations and technologies, and create marketing opportunities. It will further emphasize Thailand's potential as a leader in producing and exporting high-quality food, aligning with the Ministry of Commerce's objective of promoting Thai cuisine.
"This year, the trade show will feature over 3,000 companies from 43 countries, including 1,200 Thai businesses, showcasing their products and services across 5,500 booths. Participating countries span East Asia, ASEAN, Europe, the United States, Australia, Latin America, and the Middle East. With a strong global interest in Thai food and beverages, the event expects to attract over 60,000 trade visitors from 120 countries. The primary focus of THAIFEX – Anuga Asia 2023 is to generate immediate orders, estimated to exceed 70 billion baht in business transactions, with online purchases expected to surpass 1.5 billion baht," revealed Ms. Natiya.
The trade show will comprise 11 zones, each showcasing a wide range of food and beverage products. These zones include coffee and tea, drinks, fine food, food service, food technology, frozen food, fruits and vegetables, meat, rice, seafood, and sweets and confectionery. Alongside these zones, visitors can participate in special activities such as the Thailand Ultimate Chef Challenge competition, knowledge-sharing seminars, and the Export Clinic, a trade fair activity involving commercial attachés. Special zones will provide visitors with insights into the latest food and beverage trends, including THAIFEX – Anuga Halal Market, THAIFEX – Anuga Organic Market, THAIFEX – Anuga Future Food Market, Future Food Experience+, THAIFEX – Anuga tasteInnovation Show, and the Thai SELECT pavilion. The trade show will also host engaging exhibitions like The DITP Service Center, Thai herbal products, "Thailand: The Land of Tropical Fruits," THAIFEX – Anuga Halal Pavilion, and various information kiosks from different agencies. Additionally, a new trade show called THAIFEX – HOREC Asia, targeting the HoReCa industry, will be launched.
In addition to the physical event, the organizers have arranged the THAIFEX – Virtual Trade Show to accommodate those unable to attend in person. This virtual trade show allows participants to browse product categories, view 3D models, videos, product catalogues, and images. Trade deals can be negotiated through video calls, chat, or messaging.
