The Ministry of Health receives 1.9 billion lei to supplement the budget
The Ministry of Health in Romania is to receive a substantial budget supplement of nearly 2 billion lei, sourced from the Government's Reserve Fund, as confirmed by a Decision approved by the Government on Thursday. This financial boost aims to support various critical programs and investments within the health sector.
The additional funds will be allocated to several priority areas, including:
- Emergency Reception Units (UPU): An allocation of 930 million lei will enhance the budget for emergency services, covering both UPU/CPU and County Ambulance Services.
- Specialized Health Programs: 210 million lei will be directed towards priority action programs for anesthesia and intensive care (ATI), stroke, acute myocardial infarction, trauma, neonatology, and post-stroke recovery.
- Severe Burn Centers: The financing for advanced construction projects of the three severe burn centers in Timisoara, Tg. Mureş, and Bucharest will be increased by 125 million lei. This program is developed in partnership with the World Bank.
- Hospital Infrastructure and Equipment: 200 million lei will be invested in improving hospital infrastructure and providing essential medical equipment.
- Salaries for Health Staff: 310 million lei will ensure the payment of salary rights for staff paid from the state budget, including those in the Directorate of Public Health (DSP), County Ambulance Services (SAJ), and the Ministry of Health (MS).
These investments are crucial for enhancing Romania's healthcare system, addressing both immediate and long-term needs. With this budget supplement, the Ministry of Health's total budget for 2024 reaches approximately 19 billion lei, marking an increase of over 30% compared to the previous year. This substantial financial commitment underscores the government's focus on strengthening the health infrastructure and services to better serve the population.
