The "Traditional Artistic Crafts" Olympiad, a delight for visitors to the Open Air Museum in Dumbrava Sibiu
The ASTRA Museum, an institution whose actions are made possible by the financing of the Sibiu County Council, organized the "Traditional Artistic Crafts" Olympic event, the national phase, between July 20-25. In this interval, the ASTRA Museum registered 5,528 visitors. The "Traditional Artistic Crafts" Olympiad, the event reached its 25th edition, brought together 200 participants - 126 students in the competition, two students participating outside the competition; 42 teachers from the country, the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Bulgaria; 6 representatives of Confucius Institute Sibiu/ULBS Sibiu and 26 former Olympians. They came to the ASTRA Museum from Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Bulgaria. No less than 26 counties in our country were represented in this competition.
"The participants were divided into 33 sections, such as: vertical and horizontal warp weaving, embroidery, sewing, making folk wear pieces, making ornaments, making dolls in folk wear, making opinci, tassels on the chelteu, braiding, braiding plant fibers , artistic woodworking, wood carving, xylography, pyrography, metalworking, painted furniture, making traditional toys, inking eggs, painting icons on glass and wood, naive painting, modeling ceramics, pottery, making masks, decorative art.
At this year's edition, we organized 7 interactive craft workshops: mosaic workshop, leather embroidery workshop, paper cutting art workshops, Chinese calligraphy, woodcut workshop, traditional toy making workshop, jewelry making workshop.
All the students were awarded with diplomas by the ASTRA Museum and ISJ Sibiu, but also with a gift consisting of promotional materials and office products and sweets offered by the sponsors of the Olympiad: FLARO PROD SA, EURO NET SRL, SC MOARA CIBIN and BOROMIR ", stated the representatives of the ASTRA Museum.
The sponsor Vatra Association of Craftsmen and Heritage Creators (www.vatra-mcp.ro) awarded three special prizes for painting, sculpture and ceramics worth 600 lei each.
