TikTok is currently developing an AI chatbot named "Tako."
TikTok is actively exploring the potential of an AI chatbot named "Tako," aligning with the prevailing global trend. Whether Tako will eventually be introduced to the public remains uncertain, but its purpose is clear: to assist users in discovering valuable content on the app. Functioning as an AI-driven tool, Tako aims to enhance search capabilities and facilitate exploration within TikTok's vast collection of videos.
However, Tako goes beyond mere search functionality by incorporating conversational abilities. For instance, when users come across a video related to an event like "Independence Day," they can engage with the chatbot to obtain additional information and gain a deeper understanding of the event's context.
To power this chatbot, TikTok has integrated a third-party chat assistant, although the specific AI model employed has not been disclosed at this time. While Tako primarily remains in the testing phase, TikTok has already taken steps to protect its potential by filing a trademark application for the name "Tako." Clearly, the company is committed to advancing its AI capabilities.
Presently, a limited number of users in select markets are participating in the Tako testing program. Positioned on the right-hand side of the app, above the profile icon, the chatbot can be accessed by tapping its icon. This action opens a chat screen where users can input their queries and engage in conversations with Tako.
