WhatsApp Tests A Status Archive Feature For Businesses
WhatsApp is actively working on revamping its Android application and enhancing existing features. Recently, the renowned messaging platform conducted tests on features such as usernames and screen-sharing. Presently, WhatsApp has plans to enhance the Status tab with a new feature designed specifically for Business profiles. Let's delve into the details below.
WhatsApp is developing a Status Archive feature, according to a report by WABetaInfo. This feature is currently being tested as part of the WhatsApp Business beta for Android 2.23.11.18. Once implemented, businesses will be able to share their previous status updates with their customers whenever necessary.

When your account meets the eligibility criteria, you will receive a banner notification within the Status Tab, as depicted in the screenshot above. By selecting the Archive Settings option, you can activate the Status Archive feature. Once enabled, any status updates you post thereafter will remain accessible to you for up to 30 days, surpassing the standard 24-hour expiration period. This functionality resembles the Story Archives feature on Instagram.
The archived status updates are private and can only be viewed by the respective business account. Additionally, you can customize your archive preferences and access your archived updates directly from the Status tab. This feature proves to be highly beneficial for businesses, as it allows them to republish their stories, reaching a wider audience and boosting engagement. Moreover, businesses can utilize the archived status to create Facebook and Instagram advertisements.
Currently, WhatsApp is rolling out this feature to a select group of beta testers. In the upcoming weeks, more business accounts will gain access to this feature. It remains unclear whether this feature will be extended to regular WhatsApp accounts. If you are using the WhatsApp Beta channel for Android, you can try out this feature. If you haven't received it yet, please be patient as it should be available shortly. Stay tuned for further updates.
