Tinubu Is First Real Politician to Become President, Obasanjo, Buhari, Jonathan Are Not – Atiku’s Ally, Sowunmi
Segun Sowunmi, the former spokesman for ex-Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has made a bold statement declaring that President Bola Tinubu is the first "real politician" to ascend to the presidency of Nigeria. Sowunmi's remarks came during an appearance on TVC News, where he contrasted Tinubu with former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Muhammadu Buhari, and Goodluck Jonathan, whom he described as not being real politicians.
Sowunmi emphasized that the current political landscape under Tinubu's administration presents unique challenges for the opposition. He noted that it is becoming increasingly difficult for opposition parties to effectively challenge Tinubu's government. "In the present dispensation of the APC, President Tinubu-led federal government, the first thing we need to accept and which we are accepting now is that our work is cut out for us," he stated.
He further elaborated on his perspective, asserting that Obasanjo and Buhari cannot be considered politicians due to their military backgrounds, while Jonathan's rise to power was marked by the "misery of others." In contrast, Sowunmi praised Tinubu as a true politician, highlighting the need for quality minds to engage in the democratic process and contribute to the opposition's efforts.
Sowunmi's comments reflect a significant viewpoint within the PDP as they navigate the current political environment and strategize for the future. His assertion about Tinubu's political legitimacy underscores the ongoing discourse about the nature of leadership and political identity in Nigeria.
