- Author Talk: Kendrick Perkins & Kiese Laymon at Kindred Stories | Monday, February 27 – Former NBA player and ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins comes to the Third Ward bookshop for a discussion with author Kiese Laymon about Perk’s new memoir, The Education of Kendrick Perkins. $35 and up. 7pm.
- 2023 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Opening Day at NRG Park | Tuesday, February 28 | Ongoing – This year’s Rodeo kicks off on Tuesday, offering three weeks of carnival fun, festival eats, livestock and petting zoos, a vendor marketplace, and a nightly main event of bronco bustin’ and headlining concerts. Opening night headliner Parker McCollum gets the festivities rolling, but you can enjoy the carnival atmosphere and show grounds throughout the day. NRG Park admission is $20 for ages 13 and up; $10 for ages 3 to 12; free for ages 2 and under. Carnival rides, rodeo and concert admission is an additional cost. Concert tickets start at $20, but you may find better, cheaper or hard-to-get seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 10am to midnight; rodeo and concert performances begin at 6:45pm.
