Transfers via SPI gain ground and reach historical records
A few months after its full implementation, in its pilot plan, the Instant Payment System (SPI) of the Paraguayan Payment System (Sipap) registers growing transfer operations, even reaching historical records, as observed in the data of the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP).
The progress of digitization and the availability of the SPI, which provides transfer functionality 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, influenced the historical records of operations carried out digitally at the end of August. Transfers between clients of financial entities through the Paraguayan Payment System are consolidated.
Adding the real-time gross settlements (RTGS), the SPI and the automated clearing house (ACH), in August 3,715,319 transfers were made worth G. 33.5 trillion, an interannual increase of 62% and 29%, respectively. The level observed in quantity is the highest recorded to date, while in amount it is the second highest figure after that of December 2021.
“The contribution of the transfers made by SPI has once again been the most important, verifying more than 2 million transfers in August, which represents 57% of the operations, and accounting for the business opportunity that banking represents for companies. large and small”, adds an analysis by the consulting firm Mentu.
