Tyson Fury goads Deontay Wilder as he prepares to face off with heavyweight rival

Tyson Fury has landed the first blow on Deontay Wilder by claiming the world heavyweight champ has only beaten a string of nobodies.

Fury is in advanced talks to face Wilder in November in Las Vegas .

And the American will be ringside at Belfast’s Windsor Park on Saturday for the Gypsy King’s second comeback fight against Francesco Pianeta.

But the former unified champ dismissed Wilder’s perfect 40-0 record, claiming he has not beaten any big names. Fury who still holds The Ring magazine lineal title, goaded him by claiming he is flying to the UK because he knows the British boxer is the bigger draw.

“I don’t have to impress anybody,” said Fury at Tuesday's final press conference with Pianeta.

“If I needed to impress Wilder, he wouldn’t be flying all the way over here to see me. I’m not going to America to see him. He knows where the draw is, he knows where the daddy lives.

“If I come through this, then Wilder has the chance to fight me for the lineal championship.

“Let’s face it, he’s not really fought anybody and he’s had 40 fights.” Fury, 30, was in typical bullish form and claims beating Wilder will be his first step towards reconquering the division.

He will then want Anthony Joshua in 2019 and says he can unify all four major titles.

“It’s not actually going to be that hard to get all my belts back,” said Fury.

“All I’ve got to do is beat Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. It shouldn’t be hard.

“But I’m not focusing on anyone besides Pianeta.

“Wilder may as well be a million years in the future. I’m focusing on Pianeta.” Italian-born Pianeta, who fights out of Germany, has won 35 of his 40 pro contests and should put up more of a fight than Sefer Seferi did last month on Fury’s comeback when the Albanian quit after four farcical rounds.

Fury respects Pianeta, who has twice challenged for a world title, but insists he is no match.

He said: “If Pianeta chins me, I’ll crawl across the ring and kiss his feet because he’d be a better man than me.

“If I can’t beat him, I’m going nowhere. He’s a very dangerous opponent, but I think I’m the greatest heavyweight who’s ever been born.”
