These are the basic ideas behind two of Suzannah Mirghani's beautiful, haunting films. The filmmaker is quickly making a name for herself and she proves here that she's equally as comfortable telling a completely narrative story as well as one that employs documentary techniques to bring the viewer into the collective subconscious of a city, a country, a whole Region even.
We are excited to team up with Soleil Space on this live streaming screening of the two films, Al-Sit and Caravan, by the Doha based filmmaker. Soleil is a wonderful women-run company that shines the spotlight on all cultural efforts from the Global South. A partnership in showcasing the talent overflowing from the MENA was a natural for us at MIME.
