World Bank Highlights Algeria’s Economic Progress and Positive Growth
Algeria is experiencing significant economic progress, as highlighted by Ousmane Dione, the World Bank (WB) Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), during his recent visit to Algiers. In a statement made on Saturday, Dione commended the Algerian authorities for their achievements and the positive trajectory of the country's economy.
Dione emphasized that Algeria's economic situation is both "good and sound," noting the importance of recognizing the results achieved by the government. He remarked, “It has to be said that since 2011, the Algerian economy has recorded a vigorous recovery.” This recovery has been particularly notable in the wake of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Citing specific figures, Dione pointed out that Algeria has achieved a growth rate of between 3.9% and 4% per annum following the pandemic. This growth is characterized by stability and a continuous improvement trend, which is encouraging for the future of the Algerian economy.
Dione's remarks serve as both recognition and encouragement for Algeria to maintain its momentum. He stated, “Algeria is making very positive progress… it should be congratulated on this progress and encouraged to continue moving forward.” This positive feedback from the World Bank underscores the potential for further development and investment in the country.
The World Bank's acknowledgment of Algeria's economic progress reflects a broader trend of recovery and growth in the region. As Algeria continues to build on its achievements, the support and insights from international financial institutions like the World Bank will be crucial in guiding future economic policies and initiatives. The focus on stability and growth positions Algeria favorably for ongoing development and engagement with global markets.
