Amazing Food Festival 2024 Elevates Thailand’s Gastronomic Tourism Experiences
The "Amazing Food Festival 2024," organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), aims to celebrate the rich diversity of Thai food culture and solidify Thailand's reputation as a premier destination for gastronomy tourism. The festival will take place in three vibrant locations: Phuket from July 5-7, Chiang Mai from July 20-22, and Hua Hin in Prachuap Khiri Khan from August 10-12.
The festival kicks off this weekend at Central Phuket with the theme “Good Food Good Vibes.” This first event in the series highlights Thailand's diverse culinary experiences, showcasing the unique flavors and food culture of each region.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Phonpoom Vipattipumiprates, Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports, alongside Mr. Sophon Suwanrat, Governor of Phuket Province, and Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor. Ms. Thapanee emphasized that the event aligns with the government’s “Ignite Tourism Thailand” vision, which includes leveraging gastronomy tourism as a key strategy to boost the local economy.
Over three days, festival-goers can indulge in local signature dishes and specialty menus from MICHELIN-awarded restaurants, renowned eateries, and street food vendors. The event features cooking demonstrations by prominent chefs, including Stars Chef Thailand Winner Chef Big Phuripat Jaiweerattanakul, Head of Cold Kitchen Hilton Bangkok Grand Asoke, Chef Kao Vayo Nisatchanakan, and other rising culinary talents from local communities like Ban Bang Rong and Bang Tao-Cherng Talay.
Adding to the festive atmosphere are music performances by popular Thai artists such as Chart Suchart, Getsanova, Earth Patravee, Off Pongsak, Tangmo The Voice, and Zani Nipaporn. Each event location will also offer unique activities, including booths selling art and craft products and presentations from award-winning sustainable businesses featured in the Thailand Tourism Awards.
The "Amazing Food Festival 2024" places a strong emphasis on sustainability. Waste separation stations will be provided throughout the venues, with staff on hand to assist and encourage visitors to participate in sustainable practices. The festival’s commitment to sustainability aligns with Thailand’s broader goals for environmentally responsible tourism.
Ms. Thapanee stated that the festival is expected to attract 50,000 visitors and generate 35 million Baht in revenue at each of the three locations, contributing approximately 100 million Baht to the Thai economy. By promoting culinary tourism, the event aims to distribute economic benefits across local communities, enhancing Thailand’s status as a global culinary destination.
