Avalanche on Mount Aragats: Two Helicopters Involved in Search for Missing Person
A search operation is currently underway on the northern peak of Mount Aragats following an avalanche that trapped an expedition group. The incident occurred when a group of nine individuals was caught in the avalanche, resulting in eight members managing to escape while one person remains missing.
The Crisis Management Center of the Aragatsotn Regional Rescue Department received an emergency alert regarding the situation on March 11 at 15:26. In response, rescue teams from the Ministry of Internal Affairs Rescue Service were promptly dispatched to the scene to assist in the search and rescue efforts.
To enhance the operation, two helicopters have been deployed to aid in locating the missing individual. The challenging terrain and weather conditions on Mount Aragats, Armenia's highest peak, complicate the search efforts, but rescue teams are working diligently to ensure the safety of all involved.
Authorities are urging the public to stay clear of the area to allow rescue operations to proceed without hindrance. Updates on the situation will be provided as the search continues. The community remains hopeful for the safe recovery of the missing person.
