Croatian Prisiljeno Želje Recipe

Prisiljeno Želje, also known as "Forced Greens," is a traditional Croatian dish that features leafy greens, typically prepared with a combination of spices, garlic, and olive oil. This dish is often enjoyed as a side or a light main course, showcasing the fresh flavors of the greens. Here’s how to make this delicious Croatian specialty.

Ingredients:

- 1 pound (450g) of leafy greens (such as Swiss chard, spinach, or dandelion greens)

- 3 tablespoons olive oil

- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 onion, finely chopped

- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

- Salt and pepper to taste

- 1 tablespoon vinegar (white or apple cider)

- Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions:

- Wash the leafy greens thoroughly to remove any dirt or grit. Remove any tough stems and chop the leaves into bite-sized pieces.

- In a large skillet or pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.
