"Drain Award" to Miroslav Aleksić
Out of the 41 books of poetry that entered the competition for the "DrainÄ Award" of the Prokupa National Library, the expert jury, chaired by the literary critic Goran Maksimović, decided that the prestigious award should go to Miroslav Aleksić for the collection of poems "Kafka's graduation suit" in the edition "Orthodox Words" from Novi Sad.
The decision of the three-member jury was made unanimously, after three books were selected in the shortlist.
- The books "On the Present and Sedatives" by Petar Matović, "Small Appearances" by Dragan Marković, and the book by Aleksić, for which we unanimously decided to win the award, were shortlisted. Aleksić's lyrical speech represents a strong dialogue with the past and the present, with human virtues and flaws, literary ups and downs. In such conditions, the poetry in his book appears as a quiet refuge and defense against disharmony - said Maksimović.
He adds that the award-winning book mentions domestic and foreign writers and thinkers, from Aleksi Vezilić and the monk Josif Tropović to Rad Drainac, Stevan RaiÄković, Picasso and Franz Kafka.
- In the book, distant climates and diverse spaces intersect, from Boka Kotorska and Savina, to Herzegovina and Cuba. In that dialogue, the poet plunges into the deepest layers of his soul, where he finds the reasons and meaning of human existence and artistic creation - adds Maksimović. Read More…
