In Switzerland, Father's Day was formally introduced in 2007, and in 2009, it was officially designated to be celebrated on the first Sunday of June. Interestingly, in the Swiss canton of Ticino and the Principality of Liechtenstein, Father's Day still adheres to the tradition of celebrating fatherhood on March 19, aligning with the feast of Saint Joseph observed during the 1500s.
While the specific dates of celebration vary among different Swiss cantons and cities, many traditions remain consistent. Usually occurring in June each year, Father's Day in Switzerland follows a slightly different schedule. While the international observance of Father's Day falls on the third Sunday of June (June 18 in 2023), the German and French-speaking regions of Switzerland traditionally celebrate it on the first Sunday of June. Consequently, in 2023, the majority of Switzerland commemorated Father's Day on June 4.
