Sadly everybody shows Váci street to foreign people, but Petőfi is much more intellectual – for example, it has Theater Katona, which has a very good buffet and shop! Magma takes place In front of that theater.
It’s a forum where designers and artists can meet and work here together. It’s not just a shop, it’s a working place and meeting point for designers and artists. And it is a beautiful display room too. It’s not just a gallery – it’s much more of a shop, and not a very expensive one either, and because I’m not an artist, I go there to shop unique gifts.
With a surface area of more than 200m² spread over two floors, you can find glass, ceramics and china, silver jewellery, bijoux, textile, graphics, paintings, leather, design objects, books and Hungarian gifts by more than 80 Hungarian artists and designers.
If you would like some genuine memories from Hungary and not the same Chinese gadgets and typical souvenirs, this is your place. I buy these things here too. For me it’s a very good and affordable design shop, but for the designers themselves this is simply magma: where they can melt together. Read More…
