Prosecutor's Office initiates preliminary investigation after facts denounced by Guillermo Lasso
The State Attorney General's Office (FGE) reported on March 27, 2022 that it began a preliminary investigation into the events denounced by the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso.
The control body indicates that - in accordance with article 580 of the Comprehensive Organic Criminal Code (COIP) - it will carry out an objective investigation that brings together elements of conviction, charge and defense that allow it to decide whether or not to formulate an accusation.
The Prosecutor's Office recalled that its actions and those of other institutions involved in a preliminary investigation are of a reserved nature.
At the same time, he called on citizens so that they can contribute with elements that contribute to the development of this investigation and thus be able to "prosecute those responsible and prevent impunity .
