Anambra LP Gov Aspirant Pledges to Combat Insecurity
Valentine Ozigbo, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate for the upcoming 2025 elections in Anambra State, has voiced serious concerns regarding the escalating insecurity in the state under the current leadership of Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo. Ozigbo highlighted the alarming rise in incidents of violence and killings, asserting that the people of Anambra are increasingly disillusioned and yearning for meaningful and transformative change.
During his address at the 2024 Obidient Movement South-East Good Governance Symposium, held at the All Saints Cathedral Auditorium in Onitsha, Ozigbo emphasized that the growing concerns surrounding insecurity, social oppression, policy failures, and constitutional neglect are pressing issues that resonate not only with him but also with other concerned citizens of the state. He pledged to restore integrity, vision, and responsibility to governance if elected as governor in 2025, framing the upcoming election as a pivotal moment for the Obidient Movement.
Ozigbo stated, “The people of Anambra are disillusioned and eager for meaningful change,” and he committed to bringing a new approach to governance that prioritizes the safety and well-being of the citizens. He described the 2025 election as crucial for the Obidient Movement, underscoring its significance in shaping the future of Anambra.
The Role of the Obidient Movement
The symposium, organized by the Obidient Movement in collaboration with Anambra State Support Groups, and supported by the VCO Foundation and Naija We Can, served as a platform for discussing Anambra’s development trajectory and promoting governance rooted in transparency and accountability. Ozigbo expressed gratitude to the Obidient Movement and the Anambra Support Groups for their unwavering commitment to positive change, particularly for reaffirming their endorsement of his candidacy.
He remarked, “The endorsement by the Big 6, including the Peter Obi Support Network and Women for Peter Obi, marks a significant step in our shared mission to reshape Anambra.” This endorsement reflects a collective effort to mobilize support for a governance model that prioritizes the needs and aspirations of the people.
Vision for a Better Anambra
Ozigbo introduced a document titled “Ka Anambra Chawapu,” which outlines his policies aimed at creating a better, brighter, and more prosperous Anambra. He emphasized the importance of unity among the people to wrest power from the incumbent administration, stating, “The people must come together to ensure that they wrestle power from the incumbent.”
He extended special thanks to his political leader, Peter Obi, and to Dr. Tanko Yunusa for their guidance and commitment to the ideals of good governance. Ozigbo also acknowledged the contributions of key organizers of the symposium, whose efforts were instrumental in making the event a success.
