Office people in Ho Chi Minh City spend money on going out at noon
Thanh Hang (28 years old) said that the restaurant is about 2 km from her office and only accepts orders before 9:30. "This shop runs an online business, so they have to close the order early to prepare the food and deliver it on time."
Each meal costs 40,000-45,000 VND. The dishes change from day to day but not too much choice.
"I only have about an hour for a lunch break, so I have to eat and drink quickly. I find that eating out in the hot sun, sometimes having coffee, milk tea, snacks. So, almost every day I I also order food like this. Only when I go to meet customers do I eat lunch outside," Hang told Zing .
Like Thanh Hang, many office workers do not want to leave the workplace during their lunch break. Some people prepare their own meals, bringing food to the office, while others choose to order through the app. Most are afraid to travel in hot weather or want to save money.
"Walking out of the office costs money"
Bao Chau (32 years old, employee of a building materials company based at Bitexco building, District 1) mainly orders lunch through apps because it's cheap, has a variety of options and saves time.
"Having lunch break from 12 o'clock, it's sunny, so I'm afraid to walk to the restaurant. The prices of restaurants in the central area are also expensive," she said.
Chau said that restaurants near the office cost an average of 60,000 VND or more. If ordering through the app, she usually spends 35,000-40,000 VND for a lunch. Book with a co-worker to save her money.
However, noon is always the peak time for office workers to order food, so the application is often overloaded. Not wanting to have to wait too long, she often ordered an hour earlier to receive the goods before 12 o'clock.

On days when he has time, Chau cooks his own rice to bring to work. Food at the convenience stores right at the foot of the building is also her choice because it's cheap and doesn't have to go far.
Nguyen Tran Ha My (born in 1991) works at Vincom building (Dong Khoi, District 1). Taking the initiative to eat helps her not to indulge in having lunch in the mall, which leads to shopping and buying unnecessary things.
"There were a few days when I went with a colleague, it cost me 120,000 VND for lunch. Then bought 1-2 more clothes cost about 600,000 VND. Then ordered more milk tea cost 60,000 VND. At that time it was fun, but at the end of the month , the spending amount is up to a million", My list.
However, she is also aware that if she just eats around alone, does not interact with colleagues and customers to have more relationships, she cannot develop her work.
"I spend 1 session a week to make an appointment with a partner, add a relationship. The meal money will be counted in a separate account," My said.
Tran Thang (30 years old, an employee of an investment company in Phu My Hung building, District 7) rarely leaves the company at noon because, according to him, "every step out of the office is a waste of money".
In the morning when he goes to work, Thang always brings a thermos lunch box and buys a portion of rice, fried noodles or noodles for lunch. Only on special occasions, he and his colleagues meet to eat and drink outside.
"The price of a popular lunch in this area is 50,000-60,000 VND. That's not to mention having to drink water after eating, sometimes colleagues even invite each other to a coffee shop. A rough calculation sometimes costs nearly 100,000 VND. for a lunch. It's okay from time to time, but it's not good every day," Thang shared. Read More...
