The 1st edition of the Book Fair of the Association of Writers of Mouridiya (Aem) was officially launched this Thursday at the Great Mosque Massalikoul Djinane until Sunday, before continuing in Touba September 13 and 16.

Organizing this first book fair as part of the celebration of the hundredth edition of Magal de Touba, scheduled for September 15, Babacar Khouma, president of the Mouridiya Writers Association, discusses the scope of the event. “The fair is a cultural event that highlights the literary and scientific production of the Mouride or on Mouridism. Works produced in different socio-cultural and socio-professional circles, which address a large number of subjects and objects which seem relatively heterogeneous since ranging from history to economics, via religion, ethnography , anthropology, etc.,” underlines Babacar Khouma. Continuing his argument, the president of the Aem indicated that other more recent works, produced by sociologists and psychologists.

Writings drawn from the life of Bamba

On the esplanade of Massalikoul Djinane, stands have been erected. Inside, books written by Mouride intellectuals who have drawn on the work and life of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Mbacké are exhibited.

“The objective of the fair is to make visible all the writings of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba and his family. You have seen many books today that you have never seen before. Today, they are there, within our reach”, remarks Babacar Khouma, who is counting on this event to encourage young people and women to write, insofar as the work and life of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Mbacké are inexhaustible. Read More…
